Dr. Asiya Akhgar (she/her), PT, DPT, OCS
Asiya completed her undergraduate degree at Eastern Washington University double majoring in Athletic Training, and Exercise Science. After graduation she worked as a High School Certified Athletic Trainer for a variety of classic sports before attending graduate school to earn her Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy at Pacific University. During her time as a PT student and after, she did gig work as a Certified Athletic Trainer through the Portland Timbers and with NBA referees.
She is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Asiya believes in empowering people through movement and education about their bodies. Her goal is to help her patients become as independent as possible; each session should be a learning opportunity. She enjoys working with patients of all physical levels across the ability and life spectrum, hence Fit For Life!
Her areas of interest include:
sports-related injuries especially for rock climbers, weightlifters, and yogis
pelvic health as it relates to the whole body
vestibular and balance rehabilitation
Outside of her work as a physical therapist, she enjoys rock climbing, backpacking, painting, gardening, and spending time with her husband and cat.
